Tameside Armed Forces Day 2025 is a wonderful day out for all the family, offering a huge array of fun activities, craft workshops and performances.

It is an opportunity for the Tameside community to show its appreciation of the contribution made by all those who serve or have served in His Majesty’s Armed Forces.

‍

The day will begin with a private luncheon for the veterans on Denton Civic Square at 12pm, hosted by the Tameside Civic Mayor. The public event will be launched at 1pm in Victoria Park by the Mayor, and a specially curated programme of entertainment will commence on the bandstand all afternoon, including live music and dance performances from local dance schools.

There will also be a fantastic range of activities for children and adults alike, including climbing walls, inflatable axe throwing, face painting, arts and crafts, and much more! Also in attendance will be a number of vital support services and community organizations, highlighting how they can offer assistance. For refreshments, the ice cream van and coffee pod will be on hand all afternoon, and the Victoria Park Community Centre will be serving free afternoon teas, so pop in and say hi!

To mark the 80th anniversary of VE and VJ Day this year, local artist Martha Webster will be undertaking a research project at Tameside Local Studies and Archives, gathering together the histories of these days over the years in Tameside. This research will culminate in a communal art project at Tameside Armed Forces Day, creating a collective piece of art with everyone there that will commemorate the 80^thanniversary for years to come.

Please note that as there is limited parking in the surrounding streets at the park, the nearest public pay and display car park is situated on Queen Street.

‍

Disabled toilets can be found in the Victoria Park Community Centre. The lift in Denton Town Hall is currently out of order, so there is no step free access to those toilets.
