Ashton-under-Lyne Photographic Society

Ashton-under-Lyne

Visual Arts

We pride ourselves on being a friendly club that welcomes members, regardless of their photographic skills, from Tameside and neighbouring areas.

The club is open to novices and experienced photographers alike, with regular monthly competitions where independent judges give constructive feedback aimed to improve both photography and post-production skills - this includes a separate section for new members to showcase their work.

Throughout the year we have talks and practical workshops on a variety of subjects - alongside trips out to places of interest in the summer months, which provide a chance to put our photography skills to use.

Alongside our regular meetings, the club also provides a monthly opportunity for members to revive, (or learn), darkroom skills of developing film and producing prints.

Whilst photography is the main aim of the club, our goal is to consolidate the social aspect of it by planning days and evenings out - and even weekends away.

Above all, we want people to enjoy their photography and make it what it should be - FUN!

FAQs

I've got a camera, but haven't a clue how to use it, and I don't know the first thing about photography. Will somebody help me to learn how to use it properly?
