Walking in Tameside

There are lots of ways to explore the beautiful outdoors across Tameside to our enjoy parks and open spaces by walking or cycling.

Whether you are looking for a walking route to explore your local area, a fun family activity or want to join a local walking group – there’s never been a better time to get walking in and around Tameside.

Over the next few months there are a series of guided walks below featured below that you may want to join. Download the PDF for the full list for the summer.

Sunset on Ridgehill - Tuesday 7 May 2024, 7.30pm – 9.30pm

See the setting sun on this two and a half mile gently paced walk.

Where: Staley Way car park, Huddersfield Road, Stalybridge,SK15 2QA. 

Moors and Mills Meander - Sunday 9 June 2024, 10am – 3.30pm

Look at the historical and natural aspects of the Brushes Valley on an eight mile walk with Paul Nethercott.

Where: The Copley Centre, Huddersfield RoadStalybridge, SK15 3RR

Lower Brushes Ramble - Thursday 20 June 2024, 7.30pm – 9.30pm

Make the most of the long summer evenings on an easy two mile walk with two small hills around Lower Brushes with Paul Nethercott.

 Where: Oakgates car park, Hartley Street, off Huddersfield Road, Millbrook, Stalybridge. SK15 3EP      

Town and Country Walk 1 - Wednesday 26 June 2024, 7pm – 9.30pm

A three and half mile moderate walkwith Paul Nethercott around Stalybridge County Park looking at the local history and other points of interest. Join Paul again on the Friday for the second instalment.

Where: Staley Waycar park, Huddersfield Road, Stalybridge. SK15 2QA.

Town and Country Walk 2 - Friday 28 June 2024, 7pm - 9:30pm

A three and half mile moderate walk with Paul Nethercott around Stalybridge County Park looking at the local history andother points of interest.

Where: Staley Way car park, Huddersfield Road, Stalybridge. SK15 2QA.
