Join Us for an Inspiring Talk on the Manchester Corinthians– Pioneers of Women’s Football!

Discover the incredible story of the Manchester Corinthians, a trailblazing women’s football team founded in 1948-49. At a time when the Football Association banned women’s football, the Corinthians defied the odds, touring the world to promote the sport, Manchester, and female sporting excellence. Many of the team’s players hailed from Tameside, and several still live in the borough today.

From the 1950s to the 1970s, the Corinthians played across Portugal, Germany, South America, North Africa, Italy, France, and Spain, helping to overturn the FA’s ban, establish the Women’s FA, and shape the women’s game as we know it today.

Join renowned football historian Gary James as he explores the club’s history, the challenges they faced, and their remarkable achievements during their 40+ year existence. Gary has been researching women’s football since the 1980s and, in 2019, led a campaign to erect permanent tributes to the Corinthians. His authorised history of the club, published in January2025, captures the voices of the pioneering women who played for the team—including three women in their 90s who were part of its founding years.

📖Book Offer: Copies of Manchester Corinthians: The Authorised History will be available at a discounted price of £20 (RRP £25).
