What’s Involved

Let the art gallery come into your school. One of our professional and experienced artists will deliver this Local Artists workshop within your classrooms.

Timings: The sessions usually last 60 to 90 minutes but we can arrange flexible timings to fit around your school day; perfect if you are a multiple entry school or would like the workshop delivering to more than one class.

Costs: £183 for half a day (up to 3 hours)/ £366 for a full day (up to 6 hours)

In this workshop, designed specifically for Key Stage 1, we will use the work of Dukinfield born artist, Simeon Stafford, to explore the differences between the Victorian seaside and the more modern seaside experience, as depicted within Stafford’s whimsical art.

Beginning with an opportunity to handle and discuss items from the Victorian seaside’s heyday such as penny licks and Punch and Judy puppets, participants will then view the work of Simeon Stafford. As a group they will collectively create their own seaside figure drawing using oil pastels that will form a group collage piece to take back to school and display. The latter half of the workshop will focus on drawing some tricky seaside shapes such starfish, clams and shells to really enhance those early drawing skills.
