What’s Involved
Let the museum come into your school. One of our skilled costumed facilitators will deliver our popular Victorian Schoolroom workshop within your classrooms.
Timings: The sessions usually last 60 to 90 minutes but we can arrange flexible timings to fit around your school day; perfect if you are a multiple entry school or would like the workshop delivering to more than one class.
Costs: £192 for half a day (up to 3 hours)/ £384 for a full day (up to 6 hours)
This workshop focuses on what it was like for children to have an education in Victorian Britain. Your pupils will step back in time and sample a typical day as a Victorian schoolchild - all under the strict supervision of our resident schoolmistress! The children will be taught the school rules and experience an exercise drill.
The workshop also includes a look at some original Victorian school books and artefacts from daily life. Our facilitator will being all the equipment needed to deliver the session.
Learning Opportunities
- Pupils will be able to identify the key differences between education today and education in Victorian times.
- They will understand how the school day was structured in Victorian times.
