What’s Involved

Get hands on with history at your own pace. Use our museum handling objects to spark conversations, reflect on changes over time and compare life then and now...

The Second World War had a huge impact on life at home. This museum in a box is packed with objects exploring how life changed, including rationing, evacuation, Civil Defence and air raids. The box and resources have been developed with local schools by Tameside museum and archive staff and artist-designers.
