What's Involved

Timings: 2 hour facilitated workshop (timings may be adjusted slightly eg. for full day bookings)
Venue: Portland Basin Museum
Costs: £111.50 for TMBC schools / £122 for non-TMBC schools

Play with the past! Explore toys and games across the years on a quest with The Ministry of Time’s History Keeper. What diverse cultures, traditions and eras did different toys come from? What’s changed over time, what’s the same today and why? Find the familiar in games that have endured, and dare to discover toys lost to changing times.

Take part in a treasure hunt around the museum, supported by a costumed facilitator in character. Your young History Seekers will work together to collect clues, solve problems, mull over materials and find facts to create a collaborative Toy Timeline.

Your group will split and swap over to ensure a quality experience for everyone. Participants will also visit the Victorian schoolyard, where you will have time to enjoy playing individually with toys, and space to take part together in group games from the past. Which toy challenges can you complete? We provide everything your group will need to take part.
