Get ready to embark on an exciting adventure with Wild at Heart, a summer outdoor activity programme designed to engage and inspire families. Explore the beauty of nature, discover fascinating wildlife, and unleash your child's creativity through a series of interactive events throughout August.   Wild at Heart is suitable for all ages and offers an opportunity for families to connect with their natural surroundings.

Bio Blitz - Chadwick Dam 2023

Date: Saturday, 5th of August

Location: Chadwick Dam, Stalybridge

Time: 10am - 3pm

 

Step into the world of biodiversity as we invite you to the Bio Blitz event at Chadwick Dam. Join our team of brilliant expert spotters in a race against time to identify as many species as possible that call the dam their home. From bugs to birds, flowers to flies, and everything in between, you'll have the opportunity to learn about the incredible wildlife right on your doorstep.

 

Forage Delights

Date: Wednesday, 9th of August

Location: Werneth Low Country Park, Hyde

Time: 11am - 3pm

 

Immerse yourself in foraging at Werneth Low Country Park and discover natures hidden bounty. Engage in making community bunting, create your own hand-made scented playdough, and participate in the unique and magical improvised stories crafted by Adam Blake, the intrepid explorer from the Adventure Bureau. It's a day of adventure, creativity, and connection with the natural world.

Psst Meet you by the Story Tent!

Date: Saturday 12th August

Location: Chadwick Dam, Stalybridge

Time: 11am - 3pm

Join us for an enchanting gathering by the Story Tent! Step into a world of folklore and mythical tales as our amazing storyteller brings stories to life. Help us decorate the magical traveling tent and let your creativity soar as you create your own bugs, beasts, animals, and flowers. Be part of the creation of large-scale land art and immerse yourself in the wonders of storytelling.

Woven Rainbows

Date: Tuesday, 15th of August

Location: Sunny Bank Vale, Droylsden

Time: 11am - 3pm

 

Experience the vibrant colours of nature at Sunny Bank Vale and join Julie Turnbull, our resident Willow Weaver, in creating the largest willow ball ever! Head out on a Scavenger Hunt and discover the art of willow weaving.

 

Wetlands and Woodland Wonders

Date: Saturday 19th August

Location: Chadwick Dam, Stalybridge

Time: 11am - 3pm

Join our resident nature explorers as they lead you on an exploration of the wetlands and woodland of Chadwick Dam. Peer through the branches, wander along the winding paths, and discover the hidden treasures of the wetlands and woodlands. Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature, encounter fascinating wildlife, and uncover the secrets of these captivating ecosystems.

Shapes of Wonder

Date: Thursday, 24th of August

Location: Waterloo Park, Ashton

Time: 11am - 3pm

 

Shapes of wonder and magical yarns. Marvel at the myriad of wondrous shapes in nature and helps us create large scale land art at Waterloo Park with James Brunt and resident artists. The imaginative Adam Blake an intrepid explore from the Adventure Bureau will be on hand to create one-off, once in a life time magical improvised stories on the day and he needs your help!
