Go Wild This Half-Term with Nature-Themed Fun in Tameside!
Spring is in full swing, and Tameside’s half-term holiday (26 May – 6 June) is bursting with nature-inspired adventures, all brought to you by the council’s libraries and culture services teams! Looking for ways to keep the kids entertained this half-term?
We've got you covered with a jam-packed programme of nature-themed fun that’s perfect for curious minds and creative hands. From bug hotels to bird boxes, and safaris to recycled art, there’s something for every young explorer!
🌼 Buzz Over to Dukinfield Library
Get your hands dirty (in the best way!) with two fab family drop-ins:
Build a Bug Home – Tuesday 27 May, 10am–12pm
Bird Box Building – Monday 2 June, 10am–12pm
Crafty, creative, and perfect for little nature lovers!
🔍 Go on a Safari at Denton Library
On Friday 6 June, from 10am to noon, join the I Spy Outdoor Safari. Make your own funky binoculars, then head out on a trail through Victoria Park to spot local wildlife. It’s a wild time waiting to happen!
🐛 Minibeast Mayhem!
Calling all 4 to 11-year-olds! Join us for FREE creepy-crawly crafts, games, and a treasure hunt:

📍 4 June – Stalybridge Library (2–3pm)
📍 6 June – Ashton Library (2–3pm)
🎨 Make, Do and Play at Portland Basin Museum
Back by popular demand! These hands-on sessions are just £1.35 per child (tickets at reception) and run 11am–3pm. All ages welcome – just bring your imagination!
27 May – What’s in the Water? (paper puppets of ducks, fish & otters)
29 May – Draw Along with Caroline
3 June – Create Paper Puppets
5 June – World Environmental Day (make flowers from recycled materials)
