Seaside vibes will splash into Stalybridge this summer when a highly anticipated weeklong pop-up beach opens its doors on Tuesday 19 August.
Located at Stalybridge Victoria Market Hall, from 10am until 3pm each day from Tuesday 19 until Saturday 23 August this vintage fun day promises a unique escape for families, friends, and fun-seekers of all ages.
Visitors can relax on one of the deck chairs or build a castle in our fun-sized sand pit or take part in one of the amazing activities that will be on offer. From treasure hunting to touch tours, each day will bring new and fun surprises to enjoy, from a beat bopping kids disco to a host of group games to get involved in. Crafting is high on the list of to do’s as there will be seaside themed arts and crafts, a fantastic puppet workshop and so much more for families to get stuck into. And of course, there will be tasty treats and ice cream involved too! 10am-11am will provide a quiet sensory play time for kids and families who need it.
The pop-up beach is one of the pilot events in a programme which forms part of the Stalybridge Capital Regeneration Programme, designed to breathe new life into the town’s historic heart. Following major refurbishments, including a brand-new roof and updated interiors the hall is becoming a vibrant cultural hub. Earlier this month saw the arrival of the two-day Stalybridge Comedy Weekender bringing the Uk’s top comedians Seann Walsh, Fatiha El-Ghorri and Larry Dean to the town and it was a side-splitting success.
Cllr Leanne Feeley, Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Culture, said: “The comedy weekend was the first event, and it went down really well, both evening events were sold out showing that we were providing an event people wanted. We are aiming to build on that with the pop-up beach event and bring something different again for families to enjoy, it will be a really fun event with lots to do and take part in that will really bring the summer vibe to Stalybridge. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a great day out at the seaside without having to go hours in the car!”
