In partnership with GM Arts, Tameside Council is offering bursaries between £100-£500 for freelance creative practitioners living and/or working across Tameside to help you develop your practice and grow career in the creative industries. These bursaries are here to support your growth by making it easier to attend workshops, training, networking, or access other professional development opportunities.
We recognise that financial barriers can significantly limit access to professional development opportunities for freelance creative practitioners. The GM Arts Access Bursaries are designed to support those who find it challenging to cover the costs associated with attending networking, training or other professional development events. We aim to cover expenses that may be overlooked by other funding sources, including, but not limited to, the cost of taking time off work, travel, accommodation, and caregiving costs. Our goal is to reduce financial pressures so that creative practitioners can focus on expanding skills and networks, irrespective of personal or economic circumstances.
Does this sound like a bursary that you might benefit from?
Fill in the application form linked above and get your name down to be considered for this bursary! Please remember to answer every question in full, and with clear and detailed answers.
The deadline to apply for a Tameside GM Arts Access Bursary in Round 2 is:
Friday 15th August 2025 at midnight
You’ll hear back from Tameside Council's Cultural Services on whether we’re able to support your request for a bursary on or before:
August 25th.
You must have spent the grant and filled in the evaluation form by no later than March 2026
Please note that it may take up to 30 days for the bursary to be processed and paid.
Please consider these dates carefully when applying.
If for access requirements you would rather submit a video recording of your application, please contact Hannah.Alwan-Weston@tameside.gov.uk. If you have any questions about the application process or the bursaries, also feel free to contact that email address.
Good luck with your applications, we look forward to hearing from you!
•Beyond a successful application we will not expect any more from you to confirm eligibility.
•Once the project is finished, we will ask you to fill in a short evaluation form for yourself and how the money supported you.
•This will all need to be completed by March 2025.
• Whilst we aim to support as many people as possible with this grant, there is unfortunately a limited amount of funding on offer. In the event of more practitioners applying than there are bursaries to award, we will award on the basis of meeting the eligibility criteria detailed on the application form and clearly demonstrating in your application how you will spend the bursary and how this will support your creative development.
