Stalybridge’s year as Greater Manchester Town of Culture will come to a festive and fabulous finale with a brass band concert.

Tameside Council is hosting the Best of Christmas Brass event at Stalybridge Civic Hall on Tuesday 20th December with tickets priced at just £2.50 each. All proceeds will go to The Mayoral Charity,  supporting The Christie.

The concert will be performed by Stalybridge Old Band, which was founded in 1809 and is renowned as the world’s oldest brass band.

The evening, which is also to be attended by Tameside Civic Mayor, Cllr Mike Glover, promises to bring the cheer and celebration of Christmas to life with a programme of carols and seasonal brass classics. Tea, coffee and mince pies will be available to purchase.

Tameside Council Assistant Executive Member for Heritage, Culture and Digital Inclusion Cllr Sangita Patel said: “I can’t think of a more fitting, joyful and home grown event to celebrate Christmas and culminate what has been an amazing year of Town of Culture activities – showcasing Stalybridge and its fantastic heritage as well as the many talented artists and performers who are based here.

“It will also help to raise funds for a charity that’s close to many people’s hearts. I would encourage people to get tickets early as the event is expected to be popular.”

Tickets for the one-off event are available from https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/tameside-mbc
