Summer in Tameside is set to be unforgettable, with a wide variety of exciting activities and events lined up for families, children, and visitors of all ages. From creative workshops to live performances, the borough is buzzing with opportunities to make memories and try something new.

What’s on?

Tameside Council teams have curated a jam-packed programme of events running from 29 July to 28 August, with many activities free of charge. Whether you're into history, theatre, crafts, or just looking for a fun day out, there’s something for everyone.

Highlights include:

  • Summer Theatre Sessions featuring interactive performances like Puppet Adventures and Time Travelling Tales in parks and venues.
  • Make, Do and Play creative sessions at Portland Basin Museum every Tuesday and select Thursdays.
  • Story-themed walks, arts and crafts, and cultural activities across libraries, parks, and community venues.
  • Family Fun Days at each of Tameside’s Family Hubs:
    • Hyde (South) – Monday 28 July
    • Ridge Hill (East) – Monday 4 August
    • Greenside (West) – Wednesday 13 August
    • St Peters (North) – Thursday 14 August
      (All events run from 1pm–4pm)

Special Events

  • Pop-Up Beach at Victoria Market Hall, Stalybridge (19–23 August): A seaside escape with puppet workshops, dancing, games, and themed crafts.
  • Family Jamboree at Portland Basin Museum (Bank Holiday Monday, 25 August, 11am–3pm): A day of live music, circus skills, puppet shows, and more.
  • Victory! WWII-themed day at Portland Basin Museum – 30 July
  • Our Museum Day – 7 August
